In December 2017, the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) announced new national metering rules that will see all electrical consumers (you and me) making the move from old-style switchboards to digital meters, known as Smart Meters. These changes aim to reduce the risk of outdated switchboards and old fuses failing and causing potentially devastating house fires.
The cost of the installation for a new digital meter may be covered by your electricity retailer.
How do you tell?
If your switchboard features messy rewireable fuses and plug-in breakers, you need an upgrade to a modern, well labelled switchboard with circuit breakers, and adequate safety switches for power, lights and high voltage diverters.
We are offering all our customers a FREE inspection of their meter boxes to confirm whether an upgrade is required.
